Remington rifles have been a crap shoot for some time now. The quality just isn't there anymore. There's better options.

I use a remi 700 VS in .223 for pest control it took a lot of 'extras' and load development to get it shooting well...... Other brands now offer out of the box accuracy without the messing about Sako and Tikka are good examples.

I have a Remington 700 VLS in 223 with Bushnell 3200 series 4-16x40mm scope. It's the older 1-12" barrel twist. I got it from a member here and I have about $650 into it. I have not shot it a lot or very far but with good quality 45-55gr target and hunting ammo I can shoot 10 (not 3 or 5) rounds into a quarter from 100 yards without problem. The action is very smooth and works very well. I like it a lot.
