Savage VT11

Post by Brandon H. » Mon Apr 24, 2017 11:19 pm

Just bought a dicks special Savage VT11, 24" heavy barrel in .308 . We liked them so much my brother and step father bought one too.

Want to upgrade to a Choate tactical stock, savage bottom metal, and SWFA 12x scope with 20moa base.

My question is how easy is the stock swap? Im going to order it for my bolt spacing and bottom bolt release, butis there any inleting Or fitting would have to do? Or is it pretty much plug and play?

BH,
Like Standby said, is a a simple drop in.

The only thing I will say is, you might consider bedding it, even though it is an aluminum block chassis.

My 260 Remington sits in this same stock. When it was unbedded, my cold bore shot was always 2-2.5MOA higher than the follow on shots. .Every shot after the cold bore was consistent.

At 100yds, 2in high is not that big a deal, but at distance, say at 600yds, that 2in is now 12in, at 1000yds 20-25in high.
.
I bedded it and now my cold bore shot is less than .25in from the follow on shots. Just something to think about.

That stock is what I am using in my video, shooting at 1000yds.
