Just because you 'live' in America doesn't make an SKS an American Battle Rifle. Not even close.
Allthough I completely understand what you are saying all of us make small mistakes.......................

gas plug on #2 was off after i cleaned it. the stock on that gun has been bedded and there is no way to get it apart without knocking the gas block forward and banging the action out of the stock with a piece of wood and a hammer. and then even then it doesnt want to come out. i know one day i am going to break the bedding, and i know you arent supposed to take them out of the bedding, but occasionally the cleaning requires it. the top one is all TRW including the barrel. very early springfield.

Here's my little frien'. I like the lower profile of the scout mount. I had a Scout, too, but ran out of room in the safe.

Gunnut, I love that P-17. I never should have sold off my Remington.
It's the DEED, not the device.

My preban 1974 Springfield Armory Devine M1A National Match with a factory bi-pod and a 3x9 variable scope.
I painted the fiberglass stock in the Tigerstripe pattern.

Two New Ones

Post by WillRuss » Tue Apr 13, 2010 3:28 pm

These two just fell into my collection recently, and neither have import marks. I'd take either of them into battle any day.

This one's a M1903 from Rock Island arsenal. Since the receiver was made in early 1918, and the WWII rearsenal barrel was made 12-41, this gal probably saw service in both wars! An old Marine neighbor said he carried one just like it on Guadalcanal. It came with an early WWII canvas "no hump" sling which could be original issue.

Next is an M1 Carbine by Underwood Elliott-Fisher, actually made by their subcontractor Intertype Corp in August 1943. It includes an original UEF M1 stock and 8-43 barrel. It was rearsenaled post-war, but it looks like all they did was add the sliding rear sight, Type 3 barrel band, M2 mag release and rotating safety. The mag pouch is an original "Rubon K.C."

Picked up an AutoOrdnance (aka Kahr) M-1 carbine.

I took it for a test drive and I gotta say the fit and finish is excellent, the wood is great, and the fixed sights were sighted in spot-on at 25 yds. the range I tested it out at.

LRB M14s, USGI Re-Finished Stock, SEI Barrel, my version of a DMR.

Still working on the stock adjustment/finish/ergonomics..But so far looks like it's capable of being a a very tight shooter and probably not too far from what's actually being used by GI's overseas.

Some gorgeous rifles here! I've gotta eventually get an M1 Garand from CMP. Just seems like one that every red-blooded American man should have, eh? /:f

Does a SCAR-16S count as a "battle rifle?"

...Here's one I just picked up a few days ago. I got it in trade from a gentleman who made me feel like a kid "literally"...He was close to 90 and thought it was time for a handgun. He got the handgun I got this. It's a 12-43 Inland...I've wanted one since I was a kid and it finally came to me.
