Whats the deal with them and M1 Carbines? They ever getting any back in stock?

Auction only for now. I was lucky when I joined to be able to get a rockola carbine which I just look at every so often. I wish I could fire it.

Here is a great resource for the order time line

These guys are talking only waiting 2-3 weeks for theirs. You mean I'm not gonna have to wait 4-6 months for mine like it says on their site?

North Store is closed due to weather today. No rifles are not sent from the North Store.
I'm betting that the weather in Alabama is kind of messy now too.
It is well worth the wait, hope you bought a few hundred rounds of HXP to go along with your new rifle. _:

The CMP. They have real nice .30'06 made in Greece in the late 60s to early 70s. It is reloadable and the primers are not crimped in but staked at three points. Makes them easier to reload.
Last I saw it is running just a bit over $0.50 a round shipped.
The gas system of the M1 is sensitive to the pressure curve so I'm recommending the M2 ball from the CMP unless you reload.

No commercial ammunition uses a slower burning powder. The gas port, being a inch or so from the muzzle precludes those slow powders. There is an adjustable gas plug available from a couple of sources, for using commercial ammo. Just stay under 168grain bullets if you get a Shuster (sp?) Adjustable gas plug.

Yes, those will allow you to use most commercial ammunition.
Just stay away from the real heavy bullets.

The Garandgear plus looks like the best bet. Lots of CMP guys are saying its GTG and you dont have to adjust it once its installed. What bullet weight would you recommend not to shoot that would be too heavy so i can keep it in mind?

I've seen .30'06 up to and over 180grain. The one turn in ten inch rifling twist works best with the 168-170 grain bullet weight.
HXP is more or less 150grain flat based bullet. Runs around 2 to 2 1/2 MOA in my rifles.

Just ordered the Garandgear plug. Gonna try to find some lighter 30.06 loads at Wal Mart and hopefully they'll run ok

From garandgears site

it was verified that the ported gas plug limited peak pressures in all cases to levels below that of M2 Ball. The ported plug also reduced the total impulse to acceptable levels on all of the rounds tested. The ported gas plug has the added benefit of requiring no adjustments when switching ammunition. In the future, additional commercial cartridges will be tested. If you have a brand of ammunition that we did not test, please feel free to contact us.

American Eagle, Remington UMC, FMJ ball are good choices if you are not going to use the military surplus from the CMP.

Hxp is the best deal. One day it will be gone and I will be stuck reloading the buckets of brass I've. collected of it.

Keep a eye out for the API that is about to be released from the cmp.
