Help finding Mauser 98k

Post by Gregh181 » Mon Jun 10, 2013 7:47 pm

I know its not an American Battle Rifle but tried to place this in the right forum. Anyways, I need some help. I'm looking to get a Mauser 98k from 1940-45 but I'm having a hell of a time online trying to find them anywhere other than gunbroker. On gunbroker most are around $700. Is that a legit price? I was thinking maybe more around the $350-400 range for one. Anyways, this isn't a BST add in any way, just need some info on best places to look. And yes I've looked at classicarms.us but they dont have right now ](*,)

What are peened markings? Would the original markings still be on the rifle?

Yea as far as I know "peened" means that the Swastika markings were removed when the rifles were captured.
