Anyone going to Guns of the South at Okeechobee 4/13-4/15

Post by Rentprop1 » Mon Feb 12, 2018 12:15 am

Huge AK run and gun Okeechobee Shooting sports ....details are just kinda coming in most of the info is on Facebook . ..looks like $150 to be a competitor and like $15 to watch and go thru the vendor area.
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

This???

http://www.okshooting.com/upcoming-even ... the-south/

https://practiscore.com/guns-of-the-south/register -- you gotta read the rules PDF
Competition Sub-Categories:
The competition sub categories fulfill social and historical context of the Kalashnikov
platform. Participants who elect participation in the sub-category competition must
conform to that category for the duration of all events for scoring to count.
The competition sub categories fall under the four equipment divisions.
There will be four sub categories, which will lead to the ultimate possibility of 16 total
categories of participation.
The Sub categories are:
1. IRA: Participants must wear a black full-face ski mask, three hole. Must be
authentic to usage. Wool or acrylic only. No high speed blends. Must be worn
for the duration of each participating stage.
2. Leaf Hat: Participants must wear a conical leaf hat. Participants may elect to
wear black pajamas with the leaf hat, but are excluded from wearing flip flops
due to range safety protocols.
3. Gopnik: Participants must be pejoratively agitated, whilst doning an Adidas
track suit and wife beater for the duration of each participating stage. Dancing
is prohibited during course of fire, however, once the firearm has been shown
safe to RO, dancing is highly encouraged. Squatting is encouraged, although
no additional points will be issued for engaging course of fire in native slavsquat
orientation. If the course of fire renders an advantage to the utilization
of the squat, do what you have to do.
4. East African/Somali pirate: Participants must be clothed. No naked
participants will be permitted to run course of fire while fueled by long
durational use of Khat. Participants wishing to wear torn mismatched overtly
branded western clothing, must do so for the duration of each participating
event. Flip flops are not permitted, mismatched running shoes are highly
encouraged. The use of psychotics is highly shunned, though the use of
Chinese chest rig filled with 20oz soda bottles filled with beach sand is also
encouraged.
5. FUN
5.1.1. DON’T BE A DICK
5.1.2 HECKLING WILL BE ENCOURAGED
5.1.3 HELP WILL BE PROVIDED, BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN YOUR FRIENDS CAN SHOOT
THE STAGE FOR YOU. IF YOU CANNOT LOCATE A TARGET, VERBAL ASSISTANCE CAN BE
PROVIDED. IT MAY BE EMBARASSING, YOUR FEELINGS MAY GET HURT, YOU MAY CRY,
BUT IT IS ALLOWABLE.
6. PERSONAL EQUIPMENT:
Each participant is responsible for their own individual loadout and desired method of
bearing. Magazine changes will be necessary during multiple stages. How you stow your
mags is your business. This is not a tactical fashion show.
A sidearm will be necessary during some stages. No appendix carry, nor cross-draw
holsters will be permitted during any stage that requires use of pistols. Strong side,
outside the waistband is strongly encouraged.

supposedly only 13 shooters had signed up :-k

I commented on one of the social media posts that the participant price of $ 150 per shooter was a little steep considering no one knew anything about how the matches were gonna be run, they even had some of the Youtube talking heads trying to hype it up but the hype around the cloak and daggerness of the stages left a lot in the dark.....all you knew was you were getting a BBQ dinner on Friday night and matches all day Sat with run off type matches on Sunday, 10 plus stages ...800 to 900 rounds needed
