Saiga front end conversion...

Post by Big_Mike » Wed Aug 24, 2016 11:14 am

Anyone have any experience with this?

What am I looking at as far as cost and effort?

I picked up a "converted" Saiga 7.62 with the velcro strip on the side, would like to convert the front end as well.

Full/Proper conversion would need;

Bulgarian AK74 or Russian AK74/AK101/AK103 series HG retainer, GB and FSB and a gas tube. A proper/correct rear sight leaf too if you're going all the way.

A press or BFH to remove the old parts. Some are pinned, some are dimpled. The pinned are self explanatory, the dimpled ones need to be drilled out and then pressed.

They make a bolt on retainer though if you want the quick & easy way out and dont care about the cleaning rod, bayonet lug or threads for muzzle device.

Cost will be dependent on where you get the parts and who does the work, cant give you a real number there sorry.

In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.
