Does anyone know any good AK gunsmiths?

Post by scott7891 » Mon Dec 08, 2014 7:22 pm

I live in Flagler County, North Florida. There isn't much in the way of "smiths" here and going to the local stores I do not trust them enough to know how to work on an AK since they sell mostly domestic, commercial products. Does anyone know of any?

Specifically I have a Galil and a mag adapter to use AR mags that I want fitted. Was wondering if anybody here knew anyone reputable?

Thank you for your time.

I have a strong dislike for Israelis ...............or anything with the initials IMI

.

guns that is ...I'll pass ......but if I figure out someone worth his salt on those I'll PM you

I know they are a real PITA and you have to cut away a section to fit the front trunion, and trim the back for the mag release..... take off too much and its a parer weight ....filing the mag release catch is also a real pain
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

Rentrop if it makes you feel better the only thing that is IMI on it is the barrel and a few other components. Otherwise it is a parts kit gun built on an ORF receiver that thankfully was not done by Century.

I appreciate your effort in looking.

I might try Robert Weidig. Anyone have any experience with him?
