DPMS AR15 A3's for less than an AK

Post by jwillgym » Sun Aug 17, 2014 7:58 pm

Have any of you ordered one of the used DPMS ar15 a3'S that Centerfire Systems Inc., is selling for $449.99. Rumor is they are contractor AR's that have returned from the sandpit. Was thinking about getting one, but wanted to know the real condition of them from someone the has actually seen one.

A little mom & pop gun store in PA had some in the beginning of summer. Same song and dance, price was $399 + iirc.
The batch they had was beat to s';t, cosmetically. Scratches all over upper and lower.
Can't comment on the bore or anything else. I just walked passed them.

There was a thread about it on M4C. $449 isn't a horrible price, though you could almost build a brand new PSA kit up for that price.

I'd only get one if it had kill notches on it somewhere ....lol
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

Thanks for the link. I'm thinking that no M4feed ramps is going to make it a no go...

IMHO (and that of others), on a semi-auto $400 beater AR chambered in 5.56/.223 they are not all that likely to make much of a difference if all you are going to shoot is FMJ ammo. YMMV, and if you plan to shoot HP ammo they may very well make an observable difference.

A friend of mine bought one of the $500 used ARs from CMMG a while back and is quite pleased with it as a casual shooter.
