if your SKS is a Yugo with the grenade launcher open the gas system like you are going to launch a grenade.

Not a Yugo.Seems like you removed the gas piston, but not sure if there was more to it.

if you remove the piston and the OP rod it will definitely be a single shot

my question is why would you wanna make it a single shot ??
In the days of the old west a 6 shooter was as common as cell phones are today and just annoying if they go off in a theater.

If piston and op rod are removed, will gas vent toward your face? Grandkids' face?
Why not just load a single round? Bolt should lock back to make it easy to load one more, right?
Probably easier than operating bolt manually to extract spent brass.

with the piston removed the gas will still be contained in the gas tube

just not sure if there is enough gas to move the OP rod and move the bolt any ? have to experiment next time at the range

I would still remove the OP rod and spring just to prevent any damage or extra junk thats gonna blow directly back into that area

Simply removing the piston should do it.

It works.Alittle dirty, but cleans up easy.Seems to be a little more accurate.
