Magpul UBR Stock

Post by Gregh181 » Sat Dec 10, 2016 2:32 pm

Anyone have a Magpul UBR stock or have experience with them? I have a B5 Systems Sopmod on my 3rd AR build but I'm getting tired of the wobbliness in the stock. Its actually quite excessive and I'm liking what I'm reading about the UBR. It weighs a bit more, just under a pound more but I have a 16 inch upper and I'm thinking I wont feel it that much. Just looking for opinions.

Oh it's heavy but built like a tank and locks up solid, personally don't really care for the gap when you extend it. Similar shape is ACS-L, weighs about a 1/2 a pound less, locks damn tight but isn't as tank proof as an UBR but is substantially less expensive. Odd is a sloppy B-5, the ones I've played with have all been tight and almost too tight.

And if concerned about the weight of the UBR, tape a pound of weight to your stock and report back.

If you want adjustable with no wobble the UBR is what you want, I have two on my rifles and love them. Biggest complaint is that they are indeed a little heavy but Magpul supposedly has a UBR 2.0 in the works that is lighter.

I'd say yes, which is why I'm asking around first to see if it's worth it

From what I've read the UBR 2.0 was supposed to be out by now but Magpul keeps pushing it back. The 2.0 pre-orders are being taken and they are around $200 and much lighter. In the meantime the UBR 1.0 is being marked down to a little under $200. So the dilemma that those looking at the UBR is do they wait for the 2.0 to come out or go for the now reduced in price original.

I took enough of a gulp when paying over $50 for a CTR instead of the standard MOE so you can count me out.
