IWI's Tavor 9mm conversion kit

Post by playswithstyrene » Sat Nov 05, 2016 11:52 am

Anybody owns one of these kits and uses it with their Tavor?

Been considering buying the kit and finally got around to doing some research and it is not quite as easy to exchange the parts as I imagined. Still, would like to hear the opinion of anybody who has one, good, bad or indifferent.

Thanks. :ber

I have one and did the conversion. Took about 1 hour. After the conversion, did some shooting and no malfunctions. I used the IWI mags, promags, colt mags, and ch products mags, no failure to feeds and no extraction failures. I wish the conversion kit was a little cheaper when I bought.

Thank you. :ber

So I take it this is now a conversion you can do at the range... ?

Been keeping an eye out for the kit and the prices have sloooowly been dropping this year. Hopefully now that the election circus is done, it will drop more to be actually affordable.

No, not exactly. You have to remove several items (barrel, trigger group, ejection port minor mod., change out bolt, handguard, magwell, plus have several tools to do conversion. Something I wouldn't want to do at range. Also, potential to lose parts. Conversion is not like the Aug's. The aug can be done in minutes.

I presently have a Colt 6951 9MM with plenty of spare magazines. Will these work in the IWI Travor 9MM?

Yes. I also have Colt mags and they worked well with my Tavor 9mm conversion.
