Got this 26" 11lb bass on Thursday with my good friend and #1 gateman Boomboom AKA Dano the Mano. I was using a $3.89 Wal-Mart weedless frog. We caught about 6 or seven bass. The pond is in Sarasota county.
BTW If you fish with Dano, be aware of his blind casting. [smilie=011.gif]

Dammit, I heard that you guys. I told bfips that everything is alright unless it involves a trip to the ER, so quit whining.

That day was awful special to see a bass that size caught. Not only that one, but bfips lost another big one at the boat about 1/2 an hour earlier.

Congrats! Hope you were using a medium-light rod so you could have a bunch of fun bringing him in!

Yes, my normal setup is light-medium rod with 8lb test. The only change was, I put on 12lb test for this pond because of the thick lily pads. :ber

AWESOME!!! I see too many people running medium/heavy combos so they can "set the hook" but I MUCH prefer the BATTLE a 7lb+ can put up on a light/medium rod.

Only difference between your setup and mine besides models is I use the braided wire (can't remember the name now, its a green spool) thats 6 lb test in diameter but a true 24 lb test.

Pulled a 9 Lber out WITH lilypads using this setup on a full lightweight rig.

Will see if my scanner will work to scan in the pics, if not Ill take pics of the pictures from my phone, LOL

Wow.. that would be a mouthful if spoken!!!

AMAZING FISH MAN!!! Great honey hole! Keep it up!!!

If they're hitting like that on a frog, I recommend using a Trek worm 2 with a #2 gamakatsu with NO weight... drag across the top of lilies while allowing the worm to SLOWLY drop down in between the lilies every now and then.... Drives them INSANE.... I call it florida ice fishing!
