These offer an infinite range of adjustment.

You start with it all the way open then close it a quarter turn each shot until the action cycles. Then you can fine tune it for accuracy. Some folks like the adjustable plugs, other folks like the simplicity of the non-adjustable plugs. The adjustable plugs are the only way to go with a "Tanker" due to the altered gas system.

As much as I love to have one the price is just to high and the ammo as well so I went with M1A.

I have owned 7 different Garands of Wll but 3 were as accurate as a previous poster mentioned.

After about 28 years I only have one left, the others were sold to finance other endeavours.
I still regret it.

Anyways I too get the nostalgic feelings when I hold a Garand and look down the sights. I look thru them and can visualize taking aim at a SS Kraut someplace in Europe or a Jap infantryman on a Pacific atoll. These rifles were used by the best young men the world had ever seen and using this rifle were instrumental in destroying the worst mankind had to offer in that time.

The M1 Garand is an American icon of ingenuity ( even though it was created by a Canadian ) and shows what America can do when our back is up against the wall.

The Garand is as iconic as the Pennsylvania long rifle that helped win our indepenence from the British and as such is as American as apple pie.

In my not so humble opinion any American that does not see the "hoopla" about ownership of this national treasure needs to find a library and sit down and read up on our history.
Yeah I know going to a library is old fashioned. I do know this, a library is a place where you can become completely immersed in a book with minimal interruption. Put down the PC and read about our great history. When you are finished you will stand up and say "I'm damn proud to be an American!".

Of course if you are not an American you won't have a clue what I just wrote.

Buy a Garand, handle it, clean it, love it, fire it and YOU WILL SEE WHAT WE ARE TALKING ABOUT !

Learn to reload. I never bought any ammo for my M1s. It's the best way to get optimum accuracy for any rifle and save a few bucks too.

Yeah maybe some day when I make more but also the M1 so hard to find at the right price so I went with M1A good enough and the ammo is plenty.

Been to one lately? At our local county library there are 3 sections. Books to look for, & take home. DVD’s [movies] to look for, & take home. And the third section has huge tables loaded with PC’s for people who do not own a PC. Guess which section has the line to wait for an available spot? It’s not the book, or DVD section. GARY
